About Rune Sonneville

I’m Rune Sonneville (25), originally from the Belgian countryside. My artistic journey began in high school, where I studied Fine Arts at Sint Lucas, followed by a specialization in Interior Design at KU Leuven in Ghent. Alongside my design work, my camera has become a constant companion—a passion that began at a young age when I “borrowed” my mother’s old analog camera.

Since then, film photography has remained my preferred medium. For me, photography is more than just capturing; it’s a language beyond words—a way to make emotions and moments tangible without explanation.

Ibiza holds a special place in my story. I’ve been visiting the island every summer since I was young, and it continues to inspire me in unexpected ways.

About the Artwork

This series of prints is a response to the common misconception about the island. Many people know Ibiza as a party paradise, but with this edition of film photography, I want to challenge that perception. One could say that only about 20% of the island is party-related, while the rest is filled with breathtaking locations that never fail to leave me in awe.

Time and time again, the island surprises me with its raw beauty and depth. That’s why this series has no name—only coordinates. It’s an invitation, not a statement. Only those truly drawn to the essence of these images will feel compelled to explore the location itself.
