Bringing together the work of Yulia Zinshtein, Aidha Badr, Poppy Faun and Miranda Makaroff, the exhibition explores femininity not as a stable identity, but as a landscape shaped by memory, desire, mythology and representation.

Across painting, image-making and visual storytelling, the artists construct worlds populated by women who appear simultaneously familiar and elusive. Faces emerge through haze. Figures perform versions of themselves. Memories blur into fantasies. Domestic spaces become stages. Personal histories intertwine with cultural narratives.

Throughout the exhibition, femininity appears less as a condition than as an accumulation of images. The women depicted are daughters, lovers, muses, dreamers, performers and protagonists. Being Her embraces the possibility that women can be all of these at once. They inhabit the spaces between reality and imagination, between selfhood and projection, between who they are and who they are expected to become.

For Poppy Faun, memory dissolves the boundaries of the figure, leaving behind emotional traces rather than fixed portraits. Yulia Zinshtein’s compositions explore identity through observation, performance and everyday theatre. 

Aidha Badr draws upon symbolism, ornament and personal mythology to examine desire, girlhood and self-construction. 

Miranda Makaroff approaches femininity through play, pleasure and transformation, embracing the freedom of continual reinvention.

Together, these artists suggest that memory is not simply something we possess, but something that shapes us. The stories we inherit, the images we consume, the roles we perform and the dreams we carry become part of understanding of ourselves.

At its heart, Being Her asks:

How do we become who we are? And how many are we?

The answers, perhaps, lie somewhere between memory and imagination.
